In Kuwait City the Group pairings for the this year's West Asian Championship were drawn today, which will be held between December 8 and 20. The Championship of the west Asian Football Federation is held usually every two years. Diesjähiger host is Kuwait. The west Asian Football Federation (WAFF) is an association was established in 2001 with a total of 13 members. It includes the States of the Arabian Peninsula, as well as Lebanon, Syria, the Palestinian Association, Iraq and Iran. Association's founder and President is the Jordanian Hashemite Prince Ali bin Al Hussein.

This year's 12 participants meet in 3 groups. In Group A, host Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, and Palestine was drawn together. In Group B, the Iran meets Bahrain, the Yemen and Saudi Arabia. In Group C, Iraq, Syria, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jordan make the top spot among themselves.

On paper of most powerful participants is of Iran who 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2008 could decide the Cup for itself. Only recently was the team of Carlos Queiroz dropped but feather in World Cup qualifying and lost surprisingly to the Lebanon. Oman and Jordan, which also achieved a surprise victory against Australia are also in the final World Cup qualifying round. International experience can also boast of Saudi Arabia: the country could ever 4 qualify for a World Cup.
